Expert Review and Industry Development

WMAwater is frequently approached to take a review role for water engineering components of various projects, due to the reputation and experience of our senior staff and the depth of our specialist water team. Our experience includes acting as the independent expert in technical matters on behalf of the Queensland 2011 Floods Commission of Inquiry and involvement in the Natural Disaster Insurance Review, and the Ministerial Advisory Council for the Queensland Minister for Energy and Water, advising on the flood operation of Wivenhoe, Somerset and North Pine dams.

We have a commitment to professional and industry development with primary authorship of over 100 papers in hydrology, hydraulics and floodplain management, and a presence on key industry committees. WMAwater has played a vital role in delivering the current revision of Australian Rainfall and Runoff (ARR); our team provided the chair of the Technical Committee overseeing the update, editors of ARR and lead and contributing authors of books, chapters and project reports. Our staff have also contributed to ANCOLD Acceptable Flood Capacity guidelines and a number of books in the Australian Emergency Management Handbook Series.
